BJEP Jewish Sunday School Open House at Brandeis University

Are you looking for an independent Hebrew school with passionate teachers and a fun curriculum? Newton Cantonese School Open House

All classrooms will be opened for visitors during the open house. The school offers both Conversational and Literacy educational programs for learning Cantonese from Pre-school through 8th grade. Conversational Mandarin class starts at 5th grade in the Literacy program.

Cultural enrichment activities include Martial Arts, Chinese Dance, Chinese Cooking, Arts and Crafts, Chinese Painting, and Table Tennis.

April Vacation is almost here!

April vacation week is coming April 20th – 25th. The Boys & Girls club will be open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm for their vacation program including lots of fun activities, field trips and in-house entertainment. For more information check out the brochure:

New This Year – Cove Theme Days ! Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays camp will meet at The Boys & Girls Club and then travel by bus as a group to the Cove in Auburndale. Each week will highlight a new theme. Campers will participate in special group activities, arts & crafts, sports and science. Breaks for food, hydration, and relaxation are evenly spaced throughout. Camp Goes Swimming Every Day!

NSELL: Registration for T-Ball and Farm is Still Open!

Registration is still open for Newton SouthEast Little League’s Spring 2015 season for the T-ball (kindergarten and younger) and Farm (1st and 2nd Grade) divisions. T-Ball is an introduction to baseball for young players in Kindergarten or entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2015. Farm Division is a noncompetitive program geared toward instruction and fun. NSELL is open to any player who attends any school in the district* (even if they reside in a different district).

* Note: players who reside within or attend private or public schools within the public school district boundaries of Memorial-Spaulding, Mason-Rice, Bowen, Angier, Countryside and Zervas.

Intro to the ‘Craft of Fiction Writing’ Class

In July, Next Level Up will be hosting an exciting, engaging, creative and collaborative opportunity for budding writers who would like to be immersed in the craft of creating their own fiction, as well as the entire Writing Process. Students will take part in many interactive, thought provoking, and fun writing activities. There will be a heavy focus on developing all elements of a fictional story, in addition to word choice, sentence structure, figurative language, and revision.

Seeking part time instructors

Advances Learning Center is an agency dedicated to providing services to people with disabilities, using ABA teaching methodologies. They offer in-home services, school based services, and social skills groups and are currently recruiting for part time instructors to work with clients during after-school hours.

Performing Arts for Teens

Is your teen interested in theater? Do he/she care about the environment ?

During the 4 days of April Vacation, teens will write and perform a play about taking care of the environment. They’ll have the opportunity to participate in the creation of a play that they will perform at the end of the week for families and friends.

….Bring along any wild and crazy ideas! All aspects of theater-making will be available to explore, such as making costumes and sets using recycled materials

Nature Spotters

Spend select Saturdays exploring the river, searching for bugs, learning about local habitats and discovering nature. Nature Spotters will take part in fun-filled activities including trail walks, nature games, crafts, stories, and much more. For Grades K-5, $12.00 per class.

March 21st, 2:00-3:15 pm – Animal Tracking
April 25th, 2:00-3:15 pm – From Seed to Seedling

Outdoor Adventure Summer Program 2015

The Outdoor Adventure Summer Program at Nahanton Park still has space available to those who are still looking for summer camp programs! Outdoor Adventure offers 2nd-6th graders a two-week outdoor environmental awareness experience. Come spend time discovering the natural world, making new friends, fishing, canoeing, and playing fun games.

Monday-Friday: 9:00 am-1:00 pm, extended day available until 3:00 pm
Session 1: June 29-July 10 (no camp July 3)
Session 2: July 13- July 24
Session 3: July 27- Aug. 7
Session 3.5 (grades 4-6 only): Aug. 10-14

Super Saturdays

Need a night out without the kids? Bring your children (grades K-5) to Newton Lower Falls Community center for a fun, supervised Saturday night program from 6:00-9:00 pm. Newton Parks and Rec will provide a popcorn/pretzel snack and entertain your children with games, crafts, and movies.

Super Saturdays is typically offered on the second Saturday of the month during the school year and will occur on the following dates: March 14, April 11th, May 9th, and June 13th.
