Kesher Newton After School enrolling for fall

Kesher Newton is now enrolling for the Fall​!

Kesher is a pluralistic Jewish after-school program for grades K-5. Kesher emphasizes joyful, hands-on Jewish learning which includes modern Hebrew, Judaic studies, and fun-filled electives.

Rock Band summer camp, ages 10-19

Plugged In’s “Music That Matters” is a summer day camp for kids ages 10-19 of all skill levels that includes band class, songwriting, recording a song for a CD, music video, workshops, offsite events, and performance opportunities.

Students are grouped by age, skill level and musical interest. Each session ends with a benefit concert that raises money for a charitable organization chosen by the students themselves. Plugged In provides a nurturing and supportive community to which young musicians feel a sense of belonging, an opportunity to express and be acknowledged for their musical interests and a chance to use their music to help others around the world.

  • Monday through Friday from 9:00-3:00 in two 2-week sessions
  • July 6-17 and July 20-31.
  • Extended day is available.
  • Enrollment capacity is 25 students per session.

Plugged In is a nonprofit rock band program in Needham teaching kids throughout Massachusetts about using music to create positive change in the world. More information and registration details are available on Plugged In’s website.

Summer Dance Camp at Creative Steps Dance Studio

Boy Scout Troop 205 Pancake Breakfast

The Scouts will be serving pancakes, sausage, and all the fixings at this delicious Pancake Breakfast. Funds go to support Troop activities. Scouts will provide service with a smile and demonstrate scout equipment and skills. All are welcome.

Baseball Palooza – All Star Games & Movie Night May 30th

Newton Little League and the Horace Mann PTO are partnering for an afternoon and evening of fun. The AA, AAA, and Majors all star games will be held at Murphy in the afternoon, followed by a movie outside on Murphy field!  Come see “The Perfect Game” with the whole family. Wally from the Red Sox will be there as well as food trucks, and refreshments.

Nonantum Village Day June 7th

The opening ceremony is at the Coletti-Magni Park at 393 Watertown Street, beginning at 11:30 am. The event is held rain or shine.

The Mayor of Newton will be attending and presenting awards to local businesses and organizations. The event will have fun activities for families and kids with free entertainment and activities. Food vendors will be available, too.

40th Newton Highlands Village Day June 14th

The 5K is back! Parents and children are encouraged to start the morning off by participating in the family-oriented Village Day 5K sponsored by Whole Foods. $25 per adult, $10 per child. T-shirt included if you register before June 1st. Awards go to top three male and female finishers: adult (19+), high school, middle school and elementary school. The 40th Newton Highlands Village Day follows at 11:00 am with live music on two stages (Josh and the Jamtones, Stacey Peasley, jazz, The Dominoes), delicious food, a first-ever beer garden, silent auction, FREE kid activities including inflatables, Touch-A-Truck, cartoon characters (Mickey, Spiderman, Cookie Monster, and Elmo!), magicians, jugglers, dancers, a Ligerbots demonstration, arts and crafts, game tables, and much more!
