Yoga for Kids at TriYoga in Waltham

While adults put their minds at ease during yoga practice, kids learn the mind/ body connection and to meet life with breath. Kids learn universal concepts such as breath and calmness, self-control, kindness, resilience, and confidence.

Kids Yoga Ages 4 -7
Wednesdays 4:00 pm – 4:50 pm
Young kids love Yoga! Kids learn yoga through a mixture of yoga poses and stretches, music, games, story-telling, and art.
Drop your kids off or stay to observe.

Kids Yoga Ages 8 -12
Wednesdays 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Kids at this age focus primarily on the yoga poses and breathing.
Kids learn to be both steady and flexible in both yoga and life. However, there is still a good amount of games to play using the yoga postures and occasionally some art to take home.

Summer Kick-off to Support the Newton Food Pantry

The businesses of The Street are kicking off summer June 2 – 7 with a series of events that support The Newton Food Pantry. Many businesses are donating a portion of sales and collecting donations for The Newton Food Pantry.

Highlights include:

table tennis tournament at The Shake Shack; outdoor spin classes with HealthWorks; yoga on the green, and outdoor concerts.

 

Robotics Hands-on Open House, June 15

There will be a meeting for students interested in learning about the engineering and business opportunities offered by the LIgerBots, Newton’s award-winning, high school FIRST robotics team.

Monday, June 15,
6:30–8:30 p.m.
Newton South High School wood shop, room 9170.

This will be a hands-on evening for prospective team members, with opportunities to drive the 2015 robot, use power tools, CAD on computers, make marketing products, and do engineering challenge games. Dessert will be served. For more information, email in**@*******ts.com.

Open House for Highlands After-School Program

The Newton Highlands After-School Program, just for middle school children at Brown, Day and Oak Hill Middle Schools, is hosting an open house on Wednesday, June 10 from 7-8:00 pm. at Brigham House, 20 Hartford Street, Newton Highlands.

This is a terrific opportunity for parents of middle school children to learn more about the program as they plan for the next school year.

Free Skate Park at the Y

The Skate Park at the West Suburban YMCA is supervised at all times and FREE. We welcome skateboarders, razors/scooter, in-line skaters and roller skaters of all ages. Visitors need to sign in at the Y’s front desk. Skaters or parents of participants under 18 must sign a waiver that is available on our website.

Current schedule:
· Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 1:00 – 7:00 pm
· Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm

Tryouts for Valeo Futbol Club

Valeo Futbol Club, a soccer academy located in Newton, is hosting tryouts for boys and girls, ages 8-18, for the 2015-2016 season. Tryouts will be held at Valeo Sports Center, 125 Wells Ave, Newton.
