For 50 years Newton Schools Foundation has supported the Newton Public Schools by providing private funding for innovative and challenging programs district-wide.
This year NSF is making a difference for Newton students through its Investing In Innovation fundraising campaign. Funds raised through the campaign are helping to ensure that NPS maintains and continues to provide pioneering programs for students and offers faculty and staff first-rate professional learning opportunities. Without these funds, NPS would be unable to expand many offerings district-wide or include students at all grade levels.
Since the campaign’s 2013 launch, Newton Schools Foundation has given the Newton Public Schools $170,000 to fund creative, dynamic, effective and up-to-date learning experiences for Newton’s diverse student population, reaching all levels of the school system – elementary, middle and high school – in areas that include:
* STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
* Sustainability
* Literacy and History
* Closing the Achievement Gap
NSF’s goal is to raise $500,000 over the next three years in order to make the greatest impact on Newton’s 12,000 students. Give today to ensure that Newton Public Schools go from Good to Great!!

Pine Manor College Child Study Center in Chestnut Hill currently has a few part time and full time openings for children ages 2 yrs. 9 months up to age 3 ½ yrs and openings for 2015-2016 include children ages 2 years 9 months up through age 5.
Applications are currently being accepted for both the current year and the 2015-2016 academic year. If you are looking for a quality preschool program, licensed by the Dept. of Education and accredited by NAEYC, please come for a tour and visit their classrooms.
Open 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, the Child Study Center’s professional staff provide exciting curriculum activities. PUDDLESTOMPERS, an outdoor science program, and music with Hugh Hanley are two of the enrichment activities offered throughout the academic year. The large playground serves as an outdoor classroom for children to run, climb, swing and explore. Admission is Free!
As you wander the many hallways and the beautiful auditorium of Newton City Hall, stall upon stall of jewelry, hats and scarves, pottery, cards, handcrafted pens, baby clothes, glass works, paintings, purses, linens, small furniture and so much more will help you solve your gift giving challenge this year. Be sure to pick up a map when you arrive as the booths are tucked into every nook and cranny of the building and you don’t want to miss any! With ample free parking on the streets around City Hall; both east and west entrances will be open. Please bring a non-perishable food item for the Newton Food Pantries. Holiday items beckon for all ages! Stalls and tables spill forth treasures new and old, at two churches within a block of each other:
There’ll be kids’ toys galore and a spectacular Doll’s House Raffle.. Shoppers can look through books for all ages, buy handmade knits and homemade jellies or purchase decorated Christmas wreaths. Both churches offer a munch and lunch while listening to live holiday music and a Silent Auction. Free parking is available for all patrons in Second Church’s Highland and Chestnut Street lots.
