School Programs and School-Related Organizations
- METCO is a state funded desegregation program involving the enrollment of children from Boston and Springfield to public school systems in surrounding suburban metropolitan communities.
- SEPAC or the The Newton Special Education Parent Advisory Council serves as a parent resource and a liaison between parents and administration. It provides a forum for parents to meet with each other and with school department staff to discuss special education concerns, strategies, and programs.

CAP , the Child Assault Prevention Program, in partnership with Newton schools, brings workshops to elementary school children that teach simple strategies to reduce their vulnerability to verbal, physical and sexual assault and violence. CAP also provides information to parents and teachers that gives them the language to talk to children in a way that works for children and adults alike.
- Understanding Our Differences (UOD) is a nationally recognized, award-winning program that uses a hands-on, participatory curriculum to foster respect, tolerance, and compassion in elementary schools and communities at large because the successful inclusion of students with disabilities in our schools requires an understanding community.
- Newton Schools Foundation‘s mission to enhance and broaden community support for public education and to provide private funding for enhancement, innovation and challenging programs across a student’s K – 12 experiences in the Newton Public Schools.
