July 4th Celebration in Newton

Kids’ Morning
July 4th, 10:00 am – 12 Noon, Newton Centre Playground at Tyler Terrace.
Free event for children ages 3 – 12 years. Children and families are invited to join in the Grande Pet Parade, Decorated Doll Carriage Promenade, Teddy Bear Parade and Foot Races. Free ice cream, candy and drinks complete the morning celebration – courtesy of Cabot’s Ice Cream. Kids Morning is cancelled in the event of rain.

Afternoon/Evening Events
July 4th, 12 Noon – 10:00 pm – Albemarle Field/Halloran Sports Complex
The fun continues with kiddie amusement rides, face painting, craft vendor booths and food trucks. The free entertainment at the Gazebo is provided by Constantine the Magician, the YCCA Band and Caribbean music by D’Allegro Band from DESFOB, Inc. Then, the fun moves over to the main stage with the fabulous Bo & Bill Winiker Band for more music and dancing from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Bring lawn chairs, try out the delicious food from the many food trucks and pick up your light-up novelties. At 9:00 pm, don’t miss the grand finale…a fantastic fireworks display! Summer Time for Partners

Long-running Art & Music classes for children 18 months to 3½ years (accompanied by an adult) run by the Mayor’s Office for Cultural affairs, in its summer home of Franklin Elementary School in West Newton.

Learning is FUN with music, dance, art, letters and numbers. Music classes develop physical, verbal, memory and musical skills. Art classes widen a child’s curiosity and build fine motor skills. Air conditioned classrooms in which to learn, explore and make new friends – children as well as adults!

Choose from Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays from 9:30 – 11:15 am. Tuesdays: $100 Newton Resident, $120 Non- Resident. Wednesdays & Thursdays: $120 Newton Resident, $140 Non-Resident. Babysitter available

Gabi Shiner just finished her second year at Oberlin College. The eldest sister of two Brown students, Orly (6th Grade) and Yael (8th Grade), as well as recent Newton South graduate Jessie, Gabi is in Newton throughout the month of June and very available to babysit. She has three years of experience as a camp counselor at Charles River Creative Arts Program, where she taught music, theater, and writing classes for kids ages 8-15 and has babysitting experience with much younger kids. Dance Studio Spring Open House

All That Jazz Dance Studio Spring Open House. All That Jazz is now accepting registration for the 2017-2018 school year, as well as summer classes. The proud winner of the Newton Tab Readers Choice Awards for Best Children’s Dance Studio in Newton since 2011, they specialize in building self-esteem and creating a warm, supportive and nurturing environment for all children as they learn the art of dance. The director, Miss Deb Lifson Vogel is a Newton native and currently has children in the Newton Public Schools.

Summer Basketball Camp: Newton
