Newton Metrowest Travel Basketball Registration

Join over 350 Newton youth basketball players in the competitive Metrowest Travel Basketball program. The program stresses basketball skills and sportsmanship in a fun, competitive environment where players compete on behalf of Newton against neighboring town teams.

Girls and boys in 4th-8th grades who live in Newton or attend Newton schools through the METCO program are eligible. New players are welcome, and volunteer coaches are needed. Tryouts are conducted October 16th through October 28th.

Pre-registration is free and required to tryout. Full details and on-line registration is available at www.newtonbball.com.

What’s Happening at the West Suburban YMCA

Welcoming Wednesdays:  Try the Y for free every Wednesday in September! Present a valid ID at the welcome desk and your guest fee will be waived.

Expanded Kids’ Corner Hours – Sunday Hours begin September 8th: The West Suburban YMCA has added 9:00 am – 1:00 pm Sunday hours to its Kids’ Corner schedule, taking effect September 8. Kids’ Corner offers up to 90 minutes of child care to members and guests who are using the Y facilities to workout. The service is free for Y family members and $5 for individual Y members or guests.

West Suburban Singers – Adult Community Choir: The Creative Arts Department at the West Suburban YMCA invites adults of all ages to join their new community choir. The group consists of individuals ranging in age from mid-20s to mid-60s. Weekly rehearsals will be held on Mondays,  7:00 – 8:30 pm, and cost is $65 for Y members, $95 for community. Family Fun Night – September 10th,  6:00-7:00 pm: Bring the whole family to the Y for some family fun time. The Y sets up games, crafts, and a bouncy house for all to enjoy. Interested in Scouting? Pack 355 is a large, active group of girls and boys from Newton and Brighton in grades 1 to 5. Another fun year starts in September!

All That Jazz Dance registration open

All That Jazz Dance Studio is still accepting registration for the 2019-2020 school year.  Entering their 22nd year, they specialize in building self-esteem and creating a warm, supportive and nurturing environment for all children as they learn the art of dance.

Newton Area Flag Football

The Fall 2019 season begins on September 8th at the recently renovated Daly Field on Nonantum Road. Games take less than one hour and are held on Sundays between 12 and 3 pm. All games are coached, professionally refereed and scored. Registration guarantees each player 8 games, including playoffs. Divisions are available for kids grades K – 10.

BAT’s Fall Basketball Clinic

Boston Athletic Training will be hosting a 4 week basketball clinic for boys and girls ages 7-14. Clinics cater to all levels, as athletes are split up into small groups for these 2 hour sessions. All the details and registration info is listed below.
