Cantonese Program Open House

The Newton Cantonese School will be having an OPEN HOUSE. Learn more about their unique Cantonese Chinese programs. Come talk to the staff and tour the school. Light refreshments will be served. Newton South parent Betsy Silverman will be exhibiting work as part of ARTISTS 8, a group of eight artists, at Church of the Redeemer, 379 Hammond Street., Chestnut Hill.

A group of a local artists including Sharon Schindler  are exhibiting at L’Aroma Cafe in West Newton all weekend. Great Local Shopping. A collection of Functional Photography, Jewelry, Paintings, Glass and Pottery will be for sale .

Project Manna Concert April 12th

Roll it Forward bike recycling

Donate your old bike in any condition and help someone new. Have an old bike collecting dust or bikes your kids have outgrown? ROLL IT FORWARD collects bikes of all sizes.

Nadav Kolodner and Deborah Simonds are hosting a bike drive and collecting bikes over the next few weeks. They can pick up or you can drop off in Newton Center. The program will then fix up your used bike and match it with someone who can really use it. They also provide them with a helmet and lock and educational workshop.

Angier Elementary School Seeking Substitute Teachers

Angier School is looking to fill two Substitute/Instructional Support Staff (ISS) positions. One is a 1-day-per-week (Friday) position. The other is a 2-day-per-week (Friday and Thursday or Wednesday) position. The candidates will provide substitute coverage for all grades K-5 as needed and should have classroom experience. This is a great part-time opportunity for former teachers or recent education graduates interested in working in Newton. Interested in helping a child with disabilities?

Are you interested in helping a child with disabilities learn how to ride a bicycle?

Arlington iCanShine Bike Camp returns to Arlington this April during school vacation week, April 18th – 22nd. iCanShine bike camp is a place where anyone eight or over with a diagnosed disability can learn how to ride a conventional two wheeled bicycle. It’s a place where miracles happen.

They are seeking volunteers, age14 or over, to work with riders during the upcoming bike camp. If you are unfamiliar with what bike camp is all about, head to www.icanshine. org and check out a few of the videos posted there to see bike camp in action.
