Angino Fall 5k and Fun Day: Run, Have Fun and Be a Hero!
The Y’s annual road race is back and better than ever with a new course route, a super hero theme and a free Fun Day open to the public. Proceeds to benefit the Y’s Annual Fund, providing financial assistance to local families.
$25 registration fee to walk or run the 5K route, $10 registration fee for Kids’ Races

Newton Family Singers is looking for a babysitter to help during rehearsals this fall. They are an intergenerational chorus including children, adults, families and people of all ages. During the Sunday afternoon/evening rehearsals at the Waban Library, they need a babysitter to supervise choir member’s children during the adult-only portion of the rehearsal. The babysitter needs to be able to handle a relatively large group of children, ages 1.5 to 11, while parents are on the other side of the library, rehearsing with the other adults. Sessions begin on Sunday, September 20th and ends with their show on December 13th.

Newton Child Assault Prevention (CAP) Program Seeking Volunteers
Are you someone that believes that all children have the right to be “Safe, Strong and Free?” If so, then join the dynamic team of trained CAP volunteers who are committed to teaching children in the Newton Elementary Schools the skills that they would need to stand up for themselves if faced with a situation involving verbal, physical or sexual assault.

There are only a few more days to say “Thank You” to the exceptional teachers and staff who motivate, educate and inspire your students! Newton Schools Foundation created the Honor Thy Teacher program for parents to honor teachers by giving a gift in their name.
You may also choose to honor a special education aide, a fine arts or music teacher, or a coach or counselor who has touched your child’s life. Suggested donation is $25 per teacher/staff member.

SNAP(Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and EBT cards are accepted at both Newton Farmer Markets. Thanks to a generous donation from the Newton Center Whole Foods, SNAP dollars spent at the Farmers Market will be matched up to $25 per visit, enabling SNAP users will be able to double their buying power at both Newton Farmers Markets from $25 to $50.
