Winter art classes beginning at Arsenal Center for the Arts

  • The Arsenal Center for the Arts revs up the new year with a program of winter art classes and workshops beginning the week of January 7. Children’s classes (offered for three age ranges up to teens) include Art Adventures, Clay Projects, Mixed-Media, Comics & Cartoons, Jewelry-making and more. Fun Parent/Child worksh

Jazz, Hip Hop and Creative Dance

Dancers will learn the basic elements of Jazz Dance and Hip Hop set to today’s popular music. Along with dance technique instruction, they will be given the opportunity to  creatively express themselves through open ended movement.  The class will include stretching exercises, progressions across the floor and sequences of age appropriate choreography that will build week to week.  This fun, lively 45 minute c

Brookline Music School Open House & Choral Workshop, Jan. 13

The Voice Department of Brookline Music School is pleased to announce its third annual Vocal Workshop for the Junior District Auditions on Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 1:00-3:00 pm at 25 Kennard Road in Brookline. This workshop is free and open to all students in the Eastern District who are planning to audition the following weekend.

The voice faculty will rehearse the required piece, drill sight-singing, and offer tips on vocal health and auditioning in this two-hour workshop. RSVP’s are requested from those who plan on participating. RSVP’s should include student’s name, voice part, and school district and should be emailed to the Voice Department Coordinator Bonnie Pomfret.

High School junior available for babysitting, homework help

I am an Oak Hill and Bowen alum and current Rivers School Junior available as a babysitter/parents’ helper many afternoons after school, evenings, and
weekends. I am CPR-certified and enjoy art projects, reading to and with younger children and can help with homework.

Zumba classes at the Hut, starting Jan. 7

Back by popular demand after a very successful fall series: Try a zumba class with Param at the Hut and burn 500-900 calories while having a blast!

New session starts Monday January 7th, 6:45-7:45 pm.
Classes are $8 drop-in or 10 classes for $60.

Newton Youth Wrestling program

If your child is interested in wrestling, there is a new wrestling program available for new wrestlers and seasoned veterans alike.  Esposito’s Wrestling Program will fine-tune their abilities.

Joe Esposito and Alex Greenfield have designed an effective wrestling program for optimal learning and continual progress. This wrestling program includes a planned instructional sequence, conditioning, unique drills and review sessions.

Class size is limited. Equipment needed is: Sweat pants, long sleeve t-shirt, and sneakers or wrestling sneakers. Alex is presently assisting in the Special Education Department at Bigelow Middle School, in Newton, and is a graduate researcher and student in Special Education at UMASS Boston.
