Every Child Can! Introduction to the Suzuki Method

Brookline Music School presents Every Child Can!©, an introduction to Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy and its application to Suzuki education.

This course provides an inspiring, in-depth look at the Suzuki approach to teaching and learning for par

ents, teachers, and others. In addition to exploring the elements of the Suzuki approach and its far-reaching goals, it includes an introduction to learning styles, history of the development of Suzuki education, the role of parents, the importance of Suzuki pedagogical training, and an overview of the SAA’s role in supporting teachers and parents. A fast-paced, engaging and inspiring program, ECC includes video materials and SAA-developed courseware, and provides each participant with useful reference materials for later study.

This course is required for all new Suzuki teachers, and open to prospective teachers, parents, administrators and all others interested in learning about Suzuki approach to education. For teachers, ECC serves as the first course in the Suzuki Association of the Americas’ Teacher Development Program. There are no instrument proficiency requirements and no audition is required.

Facilitator Kimberly Lorimier has been a registered SAA flute teacher trainer since 2000 and has been teaching in Massachusetts for the past 16 years. Backpacks for Kids in the Rockaways

When the kids lost their home and belongings, they lost their school supplies. Perhaps you and your kids would consider shopping at Amazon.com for a backpack and supplies (notebook, pens, pencils, markers, etc.) for a child in the hard hit area in

the Rockaways. This is the area where the poorest families live, and where the devastation was the greatest. Add a goodie, such as warm socks or mittens, and a personal note (if you mark the package as a gift you can add a personal note). Have Amazon.com send it to:

Church of St Luke & St Matthew
520 Clinton Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11238

Or drop a backpack with supplies inside in the box in the foyer at First Unitarian Society in Newton, 1326 Washington St, across from the Newton police station. If you send a backpack via Amazon.com, please send an email to Margaret Z. at margazal@aol.com, so she can keep track of how many backpacks are sent and can tell OccupySandy how many backpacks are coming!
