Coffee House benefits children in Africa

The annual Youth Coffeehouse will be held on March 1st, 7 :00 to 11:00 pm. This event featuring and organized by students from Newton Public Schools is a benefit for vulnerable children in Africa.

The coffeehouse begins with acoustic and comedy acts. After intermission, a number of live bands will perform. All proceeds from ticket sales, food, t shirts, and crafts from Zambia are donated to Communities Without Borders, a non-profit organization that supports the education and well-being of AIDS orphans and vulnerable children living in and around Lusaka, Zambia. Franklin Elementary School PTO in West Newton, MA is holding an ONLINE fundraising auction from March 7th – March 28th. Open to all, the auction features great deals on area entertainment, restaurants, classes, camps, museums, services and the like. Register for Spring Kindergarten Soccer!

Since 1993, Kindergarten Soccer has been introducing children to soccer in a fun and non-competitive environment, where girls and boys develop friendships, learn teamwork, and gain confidence. Play is on Saturday mornings at Richardson Field in Waban, starting April 5th.

Join in and meet other Newton families! The Pre-K League is open to all Newton children who will start kindergarten in the fall of 2014 and the Kindergarten League is open to all Newton children who are currently in kindergarten.

Register by March 21st to avoid paying a late fee.

Drama camp openings

Budding actors and actresses in Newton can still join the cast of “Annie”. The popular resident youth theatre program, Newton Youth Players, has a few openings for the summer production of “Annie”. Directed by Melissa Bernstein, the morning theatre program gives children an opportunity to be part of a summerstock experience. Young actors entering grades 2 through 6 spend their mornings with professionals who specialize in drama, music, scenery design and choreography. Spatial reasoning workshop

Top Banana is excited to announce they are holding another math related workshop. This time the workshop is a spatial reasoning workshop! There are two workshops, one for students in 1st and 2nd grade and one for students in 3rd and 4th graders on Sunday, March 2nd. The 1st and 2nd grade workshop is from 11:15 am-1:15  pm and the 3rd and 4th grade workshop is from 1:30 pm-4:30 pm at the Top Banana Education Foundation

Cheer Dance Worksop
Instructor: Gemma Santamaria from Paulette’s Dance Studio
Gemma was a co-captian of the Needham HS Varsity Dance Team, bringing them to the state championship in 2009 with her choreographed routine. In addition to dancing, Gemma works for Mix 98.5 radio station — how cool is she?
