Tuesday, November 11, Veterans Day – Kids of all ages and levels (no experience necessary) will have a blast doing rhythmic gymnastics and playing games with us.
8:00 AM – 1:00 PM, extended day until 3:30 PM.

Wednesday, November 26 – Rhythmic gymnastics and games for kids of all ages and levels, no experience necessary! School pick-up may be arranged from local schools. 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM, extended day until 6:00 PM.

Sunday, November 30 – After a few days of relaxing, lounging around, and eating delicious homemade food, rhythmic gymnastics, fun, and games for kids of all ages and levels (no experience necessary)! 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM, extended day until 6 pm.

Semester Away for High School Soph or Junior?

Ever thought about a semester away for your high school sophomore or junior? Learn more about the Alzar School at an open house on Wednesday, November 12 at 7 pm.

The Alzar School, located in Cascade, Idaho, offers academic semesters for motivated high school sophomores and juniors. These semesters immerse students in a rigorous, challenging educational setting that emphasizes leadership training. The program integrates a love of the outdoors, with a passion to learn and a quest for adventure.

Free Drop-In Art & Theatre Workshops, Nov. 15

The Arsenal Center for the Arts & Watertown Children’s Theatre offers free drop-in art and theatre workshops for families on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 10AM – Noon.

Experiment with paint, paper, collage, performance, and movement. Use your imagination to express yourself, make your own special masterpiece, and explore theatre games. Children can also explore the creative world of theatre games with the talented staff of Watertown Children’s Theatre.

The race starts and ends at Zervas elementary school, 30 Beethoven Ave.  It will be timed by RaceWire and Newton Police will monitor the race course.

Mind Your Manners: Classes at The Etiquette Academy

The Etiquette Academy of New England will be offering winter etiquette classes for grades 2-12 in Newton Upper Falls at Chungdahm ReadWrite, 1254 Chestnut Street. Classes meet on Saturdays from Jan. 10 – March 14.

Improving social and communication skills, projecting confidence, combating shyness, strengthening self-esteem and leadership skills, navigating friendships, resolving conflict, understanding social cues, basic manners and table manners, and more.

Open House for JCC Summer Camps, Nov. 16

The JCC is hosting an open house for three of its summer camps: Grossman (day camp), Kingswood (overnight), and Kaleidoscope Creative Arts & Science Camp

Register now for Newton Girls Basketball

Registration is underway for the upcoming Newton Girls Basketball season, which runs from late November through mid-March.

NGBA is a recreational league for Newton girls with fun for beginners and experienced players alike! Games are played on Saturdays for all grades, starting December 1st and continuing into mid-March.

Grades 3-8 practices are for 1-hour on one evening during the week (Mon-Thurs). You will be able to select one day on the registration form that you are NOT able to practice. There are no weekday practices for Grade 2 and High School. The Grade 2 program is focused on a fun, learning environment.

*Registration fees and Deadlines:

Grade 2 $95 – deadline November 19
Grades 3-8 $125 deadline November 19
High School $95 deadline November 30

* A late fee will apply after the deadline. If the program is oversubscribed after the deadline, your child will be placed on a waitlist and you will be contacted by a grade coordinator.

Dads’ & Kids’ Night Out, Nov. 18

Inviting all Dads and their children (ages 3 – 10) to a fun night at the YMCA.

Let’s get together to meet other dads and children, talk about the important role fathers have and play some hoops — basketball and hula!
