Come celebrate the harvest season at the Homestead Hayfest, a hands-on family festival. The Hayfest celebrates 19th century family life and lets you try your hand at living the way families did 200 years ago. Activities focus on historic food and crafts, games, and leisure pastimes that show how families lived when the Jackson Homestead was built. Learn more about cider pressing, candle dipping, burlap sack races and butter making.
The Jackson Homestead is part of Historic Newton, which tells the story of Newton’s people and places within the context of American history. Visit www.historicnewton.org or call 617-796-1450 for more information. Admission is free.
