The Newton Theatre Company, resident at the Newton Cultural Center, will hold open auditions for Moliere’s ”The Imaginary Invalid” on Tuesday,October 21, from 6-8:00pm at the Newton Cultural Center at City Hall.
“The Imaginary Invalid” is a hilarious 17th-century comedy about a hypochondriac and his plan to marry off his daughter, Angelique, to an imbecile doctor-in-training. Angelique is in love with someone else; the hypochondriac’s second wife is scheming against him; and charlatan medical professionals come and go. Keeping her wits about her, while poking good fun at her employer, is Toinette, the saucy maid who rights all wrongs by the end of the play.
Rehearsals will be Sunday afternoons January through April. Actors must be free most Sundays during a two-hour time slot: 12-2pm, 2-4pm, 4-6pm. Performance will be Saturday, May 2 at 2:00pm.
